Gary Neville has stated why he is concerned about Nottingham Forest. This follows a four-point loss that has dropped the Reds into the relegation zone.
If the Reds want to stay in the Premier League, they need to win quickly and consistently. Forest will meet Crystal Palace on Saturday and Fulham on Tuesday in big City Ground confrontations.
It’s been a busy few weeks at Forest. Mark Clattenburg has joined as a referee analyst, but multiple refereeing decisions have gone against the side, and no wins have been delivered.
Now, Neville is concerned about something going on at Forest. He’s explained why he’s concerned and expressed doubts about some of their recent decisions.
Gary Neville reveals what worries him about Nottingham Forest.
Neville was on the most recent edition of The Overlap: The Fan Debate, and the conversation centered on all that has been going on at Forest.
Clearly, he does not fully comprehend the situation at Forest, and, as he does with his beloved Manchester United, he has opted to target the Reds.
He is becoming increasingly concerned about what he has witnessed at the City Ground in recent weeks. Neville has criticized the Forest’s owner and some of his current actions.
Neville told The Overlap: The Fan Debate: “Appointing Mark Clattenburg is absurd. To me, the owner’s presence on the pitch versus Liverpool reveals internal terror.
“Having been in a boardroom, I can tell when there is a crisis when things like that happen. I’m just curious what’s going on internally at the club.
“The Clattenburg one is insane in my opinion; it provides the players an excuse. To be honest, what Forest did there was give players an excuse – never give players an excuse that referees are to blame.
“I know you’ve had a couple of bad ones, some shockers, I know that but just generally I think I’m a bit worried about what’s going on.”
Is Mark Clattenburg truly good for Nottingham Forest?
Given that Forest continues to bear the burden of major choices, the answer is most likely no. However, his function and responsibilities at the club are quite limited.
Forest is not alone in selecting a referee analyst. Okay, the Premier League has done something unprecedented, but this is regular practice across the continent.
Neville strikes us as the type of analyst who would praise Manchester United’s decision as magnificent and unprecedented. Instead, it’s Forest where the proprietor is occasionally unstable and he’s got an axe to grind.
Clattenburg’s tenure at Forest is unlikely to be long-term. However, he is only supplying reports on referees so that Forest knows what type of officiating they will encounter in each match.
Neville does not seem to have much positive to say about Forest. He did add on the most recent edition that he enjoys seeing the Reds in the Premier League, but Marinakis does not seem to be his cup of tea.
