Nathan Patterson appears to be on the verge of returning to the Rangers.
The Scottish right-back has been linked with a return to Ibrox, with Everton willing to sell him if a suitable replacement can be found [Daily Record, 3 January].
The 23-year-old joined Everton from the Glasgow club in the summer of 2022, but has yet to make an impact in the Premier League.
Injury difficulties have hampered the defender, but he will undoubtedly require regular game time to press a claim in Steve Clarke’s Scotland side.
The Light Blues have an aged James Tavernier on their roster, who appears to be on his way out in the coming months.
Rangers need to pounce on Nathan Patterson’s transfer
Everton are interested in Ajax defender Devyne Rensch and aim to sign him this summer on a free transfer [Algemeen Dagblad, 13 January].
Alex Kroes, the Eredivisie club’s director, told Ziggo Sport on January 14 that they are willing to let him go if the proper offer comes in during the winter transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether the Merseyside club will sign the 21-year-old Dutch right-back in the coming weeks or later this summer.
In either event, the Rangers have an opportunity to capitalize on Patterson, who might secure his return to Ibrox.
The 23-year-old will undoubtedly not want to be uncertain about his playing time at the Toffees, which will occur if Rensch arrives to Goodison.
With his return to the Light Blues, the Scottish ace should be guaranteed minutes, given Tavernier’s position and Dujon Sterling’s rise as a utility player.
This is definitely one to watch.
