Vaclav Cerny is on loan at Rangers from Wolfsburg and as things stand, is set to return to the German club at the end of the season.
The Czech Republic international has been one of the better players this season for Gers, being a mainstay on the right wing.
He’s bagged 11 goals and two assists in 27 league appearances for the Ibrox outfit this term.
San Francisco 49ers appear to get green signal from Vaclav Cerny himself
Most Gers fans would want the club to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent basis this summer.
Before the news of the takeover emerged, this possibility seemed to be a remote one, given the finances involved.
It’s understood that the club will have to shell out around £8million to bring the winger back to Ibrox in the summer, per the Scottish Sun.
That seemed nigh on impossible, but with the San Francisco 49ers set to take over, things appear to be back on the table.
Cerny himself has gone on to fuel speculation of him staying at the club beyond the summer.
While he admits that certain things are out of his control, referring to the transfer fee and Wolfsburg’s stance, he did state that he “definitely” wanted a permanent transfer.
“I definitely do,” he responded when asked if he’d like to be a Rangers player next season. “But there are so many aspects that I can’t control. All I can do is be the best I can and keep up my form and numbers.
“There’s no time for that, we play every three days. I don’t have an option, that’s the only official one. I don’t know what will happen.”
Paraag Marathe can play a key role in getting Vaclav Cerny back to Rangers
To sign Cerny permanently at Gers, the San Francisco 49ers can leverage their financial prowess and strategic expertise.
They should negotiate with Wolfsburg, where Cerny’s contract runs until 2027 and see if they can bring down his fee.
They can utilise Paraag Marathe’s player-trading acumen to structure a deal that appeals to both clubs, possibly including add-ons or a sell-on clause.
Offering Cerny a lucrative long-term contract, highlighting Rangers’ European prospects and his starring role, could seal his commitment. Finalizing the takeover swiftly ensures funds and authority are in place by summer 2025 to execute this priority signing.
