An option to extend Hagi’s current term will not happen at his present pay, but the Romanian insists he’s open to an offer.
Rangers have offered Ianis Hagi a new deal, according to rumors.
The Romanian’s current Ibrox agreement is set to expire at the conclusion of the season. However, as MailSport exclusively revealed earlier this month, Gers would not prolong the arrangement unless Hagi is willing to accept reduced terms. The player has since stated that he is open to hearing what the club has to offer, and the Heart and Hand podcast reports that a deal is on the table for the 26-year-old to consider.
It has been quite the return for Hagi, who looked to be heading for the exit door in August. After returning from a loan spell with Deportivo Alaves, Philippe Clement stated that he lacked the necessary qualities for a career as a Rangers number ten and would most likely depart Glasgow before the conclusion of the summer window.
However, Hagi was resolved to stay and fight for his position, and he had no plans to leave. According to Record Sport, a stipulation in his contract would have resulted in a salary increase, explaining his absence from the first team roster. Again, Hagi was willing to compromise and reached an agreement that resulted in his return to the fold.
His since emerge as an important element of Clement’s team, producing and scoring goals from the no 10 role. And now he could be set to extend his time in Govan should the package on offer from Rangers be suitable.
Interested parties will pay close attention. Galatasaray are long-time admirers of Hagi and have reportedly considered signing him several times. Hagi was born in Istanbul, and his father, Gheorghe, is still a club hero.
