Nottingham Forest were defeated 1-0 by Brighton at the AMEX Stadium tonight, and Neco Williams was the only player who can take any blame for the loss.

The Forest defender returned to the starting lineup for Nuno Espirito Santo, and he demonstrated his value to the Reds.

Williams was purchased from Liverpool for £17 million in the summer of 2022, and he’s now showing his true potential in the Garibaldi.

Neco Williams starts for Nottingham Forest against Brighton.

The Reds finished second in the competition, and Nuno Espirito Santo made a poor team selection.

In starting Williams, it appears that the player now has his manager’s support and is in confident form.

According to Who Scored, Williams was in good form for Forest, making four tackles during the game.

During his 90 minutes on the pitch, the 22-year-old also intercepted two passes and stopped one shot.

Williams touched the ball 61 times and completed 80% of his passes.

Forest will hope the youngster can stay at the City Ground.

Regardless of which division Forest play in next season, the aim is that Williams can stay at the City Ground.

Forest are firmly in the middle of the relegation race, and losing against Luton next Saturday is unfathomable.

With a points deduction looming, Forest need more players to match Williams’ level of passion and desire.

He was the only guy out there today who could keep his head up after the loss, and his effort was undeniable throughout.

Williams is a young player who is still learning his craft, and Forest hopes to continue developing him next season regardless of which division they play in.
