Conor Gallagher has given his thoughts on Leeds United following Chelsea’s close 3-2 FA Cup win.

A much-changed Leeds side dominated their Premier League opponents, with Gallagher’s 90th-minute winner being the only difference between the two sides.

Mateo Joseph gave Leeds an early lead following a defensive mix-up between Axel Disasi and Moises Caicedo, before Nicolas Jackson equalised seven minutes later.

Mykhaylo Mudryk then put the hosts ahead soon before halftime, but Leeds refused to be defeated and dominated the second half, with Joseph scoring his second goal of the day.

Gallagher then came off the substitute to score a late winner for Chelsea, and speaking to ITV Sport after the game, he described Leeds as a ‘fantastic side’ after facing them.

    Gallagher praised Leeds.

He stated, “It was a fantastic game.” A really difficult game. I thought Leeds were a strong team, doing well this season, so we knew it would be difficult, and to win in that manner was fantastic.”

Leeds were missing several key players tonight, notably Georginio Rutter and Ilia Gruev, but they dominated an exceptionally powerful Chelsea team till the end.

As previously stated, Leeds were the better team in the second half, dominating possession and shots on goal, and could have easily won.

Daniel Farke was highly disappointed with the game’s schedule tonight, but despite their first setback of 2024, they can be confident heading to Huddersfield Town.

Clearly, Chelsea’s multi-million-pound squad struggled to deal with Leeds, which could give them tremendous pleasure if they are promoted ahead of next season.
