“I know”: Steve McManaman believes massive Liverpool plans are ‘already’ happening behind the scenes

Despite the fact that the transfer market has closed, Liverpool still has three players that need new contracts at Anfield.

Arne Slot has shocked everyone with how brilliantly his Liverpool side has played this season, particularly on the defensive front, as they are yet to surrender in the Premier League.

One issue that must be addressed is Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract issues.

Van Dijk has spoken out about his future plans and his calm attitude toward his predicament.

Salah has been fairly vocal about his contract position and future with the club since making his post-match comments.

Trent is also apparently looking at potential options, since his contract negotiations appear to be at a standstill.

Liverpool great Steve McManaman provided an update on the situation.

What Steve McManaman has been informed about Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander Arnold’s contracts at Liverpool
Of course, negotiating new contracts for all three players presents distinct challenges.

Trent has been garnering interest from Real Madrid and was sighted on holiday with Jude Bellingham, so there is naturally concern.

The contracts for Virgil and Salah are slightly more difficult to negotiate and will require more thought, since the club may not want to sign two players aged 32 and 33 to large new contracts.

Interestingly, Steve McManaman disclosed what he has learned regarding the contract situation on ESPN.

“You hope the three deals will be done and I know Liverpool are talking to them already about these contracts now the transfer window is out the way.”

Who is the most important player?

Virgil van Dijk has single-handedly revolutionized Liverpool’s defence since signing from Southampton, and as one of the finest in the world at his position, he is irreplaceable in many ways.

Salah is getting older and has always had an eye on Saudi Arabia, which is natural given his age of 33, but he’s certainly still got it with three goals and three assists this season.

Trent is still young, and his finest years are ahead of him. He’s already progressed under slot and is widely regarded as one of the greatest creative right-backs in the world, so there’s room for further development and potential.

Ideally, the Reds would like to lock down all three players, but with two of them becoming older and Liverpool’s policy of looking for younger players like Anthony Gordon, one of them may leave.
