Todd Cantwell may no longer be around at Rangers but he is still causing a bit of a stir among the fanbase.
Cantwell speaks out on Philippe Clement sack at Rangers
The midfielder also tagged James Tavernier in the tweet, which was interpreted as an unwarranted dig at Clement in the aftermath of his firing.
When asked about Cantwell’s statement, Ferguson told Ibrox News exclusively: “That is horrible stuff. That truly bothers me. A player goes on social media and posts things like that. Tell it to [Clement’s] face.
“For me, Clement gave it his all but yet fell short. We don’t like to see individuals lose their employment, but he wasn’t cutting it.
“Then Cantwell makes a cheap shot at him. It’s complete rubbish. I dislike it when individuals take cheap shots at others.
“Clement did his best. Rangers fans will appreciate that he gave his all. Cantwell’s behavior irritates me. He needs to focus on performing for his new club while keeping his mouth shut.”
Cantwell failed to fire at Blackburn Rovers.
Cantwell is seven months into his spell at Blackburn and has only five goals in 30 Championship outings.
He has started 21 of those, with the remaining nine coming off the bench, including a nine-minute cameo against struggling Cardiff City at home last time out.
As Ferguson explains, it’s best if Cantwell concentrates on his form at Blackburn rather than the happenings at Rangers.
