Leeds will face Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth at Elland Road next Saturday.
Wayne Rooney has issued an angry verdict ahead of his Plymouth Argyle side’s trip to Leeds United, following Saturday’s six-goal thriller against Preston North End.
Rooney’s team salvaged a point with a 3-3 draw at home against Preston North End on Saturday afternoon, keeping Plymouth one position and one point above the Championship drop zone.
Plymouth, on the other hand, had to recover from a 3-0 deficit at halftime, which Rooney deemed inadequate despite praising his team’s comeback ahead of next weekend’s trip to Leeds.
Rooney told his club’s official website: “It was difficult to believe after an hour that we were 3-0 down.” I was quite concerned. Some of the defense was woefully inadequate.
“I am angry. I’m quite upset with the performance because we’re better than that, and that’s not us. Great, we came back, we fought, we showed spirit, but that was not our performance, and I’m really disappointed.”
Rooney continued, “I just felt like we were in a daze.” We weren’t getting to the ball; errant passes put them one on one. We conceded really simple goals.
“I cannot tolerate that performance. I’m definitely thrilled that we got something out of the game and continued to battle. It’s nice when you come back and get something out of being three goals down, but it’s far from good enough in terms of performance.”
