Real Madrid has recently beaten Liverpool both on and off the pitch.
Real Madrid has eliminated the Reds from the Champions League in each of Jurgen Klopp’s last three seasons.
That journey featured heartbreak in the 2022 Paris final, as well as placing second to the Spaniards in 2018.
A crushing defeat at Anfield last year was the final nail in the coffin of Los Blancos’ years of suffering in Liverpool.
If that wasn’t enough, Real has trounced the Reds in the transfer market, with the current race for Leny Yoro being the most recent example. However, according to journalist Graeme Bailey, Liverpool may be about to strike back.
Liverpool in contact with Rodrygo Goes’ transfer.
This summer, it appears like Liverpool will lose out to Madrid over Yoro. The Reds will need to look elsewhere for a new centre-back.
In addition to a defender, Arne Slot is allegedly eager to add another attacker to the Liverpool squad.
With that in mind, the Reds have been linked with a major deal for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes.
And, speaking exclusively to Rousing The Kop on Thursday, journalist Bailey said that Liverpool had approached Rodrygo’s agents about a prospective summer transfer, as well as Florentino Perez about Arda Guler.
“I am told that Liverpool have been checking on the situations of Rodrygo and Arda Guler – both of whom they are long-term admirers of and watched them for most of their careers,” claims Bailey.
“With both players, it was just a case of Liverpool checking on with Madrid, as they do with many clubs about certain players, to assess the situation,” according to the journalist.
“On Guler, Florentino Perez does not want him to leave, although he may consider a loan. We don’t see Liverpool in that market, though, and I’m informed that someone like Real Sociedad for a season is more plausible.
“Rodrygo is in a different scenario. Although Liverpool is interested in this talented player, the official stance is that he is currently unavailable and not actively seeking a move.
“Endrick and Mbappe are arriving, and with Vinicius Junior already in place, Rodrygo’s circumstances could alter rapidly. His advisors are keeping Liverpool and other potential suitors updated on him.”
Rodrygo might be a dream acquisition for Liverpool.
Liverpool reportedly tried to sign Rodrygo before he joined Real Madrid in 2018.
The 23-year-old arrived as a teenager from Santos and cost £35 million. Although that seemed pricey at the time, Rodrygo would cost Liverpool even more presently. A sum of £100 million has already been proposed.
Nevertheless, there appears to be a window of opportunity here. With so much attacking skill in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, something must give.
According to reports, Rodrygo is unwilling to leave Real Madrid, but if Liverpool can persuade him otherwise, he would be a dream signing at Anfield.
Rodrygo, a young, agile forward with a lot of talent, could be the one to take the Reds to the next level. Let us keep a close eye on this one.
