According to Football Insider, Kalvin Phillips’ loan arrangement with Ipswich Town could be terminated in January.
The Tractor Boys are expected to contemplate returning the 28-year-old to Manchester City early if he fails to demonstrate his readiness.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (22 October) that Ipswich chiefs are dissatisfied with Phillips’ condition.
Sources believe the Suffolk club is “amazed” by Phillips’ lack of mobility and running power, while insiders say his condition is nowhere like that of a good Premier League footballer.
Senior club officials believe Phillips’ “head is still in Leeds” and that he wants to return to Elland Road.
The England international’s reputation in the game has deteriorated since leaving the Yorkshire giants to join Manchester City in 2022.

He also had a dismal loan spell at West Ham in the second half of the 2023-24 season, making only 10 first-team appearances before being kicked out of the squad.
Phillips has made six appearances in all competitions this season after being injured early on.
However, the 28-year-old, who is under contract with City until 2028, has played the entire 90 minutes in only one of those games.
Ipswich are 17th in the Premier League with four points, one of four winless teams this season.
Meanwhile, Leeds are among the favourites for promotion back to the top level after failing to escape the Championship previous season.
