Patrick Bamford, a Leeds United striker, was asked on the most recent episode of his podcast which player he would clone to field a full squad.
This means that Bamford would be up forward, while the remainder of the starting lineup, from goalkeeper to out wide, consists of the same player in ten different positions.
Bamford mentioned West Ham loanee Kalvin Phillips as a potential candidate, as well as Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has an amazing ball-striking style.
However, there is one Manchester City player who Bamford praised highly: Bernardo Silva, despite the fact that his height would be a major impediment as a goalie.
Speaking on the ‘My Mate’s A Footballer Podcast’, Bamford claims that if his team consisted just of Bernardo Silva, they would never lose the ball since it is impossible to come close to him while he has control.
Bamford praised Bernardo Silva.
He stated, “I believe that if I had an entire team of Bernardo Silvas, I would never lose the ball. He is undoubtedly one of the top players. He isn’t particularly fast, but when he has the ball, you can’t get near him. He’s just so good at using his body, low to the ground, and his technique is ridiculous.”
It’s difficult to disagree with him here. Bernardo has played a significant role in Manchester City’s recent success under Pep Guardiola.
The 29-year-old can play deep, attacking, and wide, and his versatility makes him an excellent answer to Bamford’s question.
Bamford would undoubtedly receive plenty of opportunities playing ahead of a team full of Bernardos, and given his current form, you would expect him to take many of them.
He has seven league goals in just nine starts this season, which is one of his greatest runs in front of goal for Leeds.
