Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga has cautioned his teammates about Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo.
The two teams will square battle in the FA Cup tonight, with the Reds looking to advance to the quarter-finals.
Elanga spoke to The Times ahead of tonight’s match, and he enthused about the brilliant youngster.
So, what did Forest star Elanga say about United starlet Mainoo? Let’s look more closely.
What Forest star Anthony Elanga has said about Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo
Elanga does not appear to be startled by Mainoo’s surge, which has made the current campaign a personal breakthrough for him.
The teenager is one of Erik ten Hag’s best performances right now, and he appears poised to start against Forest tonight.
Elanga has had his own resurgence this season, albeit after leaving United to join Forest.
Ahead of tonight’s game, the 21-year-old has been probed on Mainoo, and it appears that he cannot speak highly enough of him.
He told The Times, “He’s an amazing player and a great person, and I just want him to keep doing what he’s doing because the sky’s the limit for him.”
“I am not surprised at all. I noticed that when playing with him in the Youth League’s Under-19 academy.
“Those with a keen eye will notice that he plays exactly as he did in the academy. Obviously, he’s had to adapt, but he still plays with the same flair.”
Forest will need to keep Mainoo in close quarters.
Forest has its own talent in Elanga who wants to advance his career and prove a point.
However, it goes without saying that Forest’s best chance of winning tonight is to stifle Mainoo.
He’s been in excellent form for United this season, playing a key role in their recent 4-3 victory over Wolves.
Elanga will undoubtedly be speaking with his Forest teammates, and hopefully, the teenager will not cause too many difficulties for the Reds this evening.
