Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
He is not the first Liverpool player to be pursued by the Saudi Pro League, and he will not be the last.
Fabinho and Jordan Henderson were both sold last summer, while the Reds turned down a proposal of up to £150 million for Mo Salah. Meanwhile, there are reports that Virgil van Dijk has possible suitors in the Middle East.
The Saudis are also allegedly interested in Alisson Becker. The Liverpool goalkeeper is regarded as one of the greatest in the world, and he has played an important role since joining from AS Roma in 2018. Alisson was purchased for £66 million and has more than redeemed that investment by helping the team win seven major titles, including the Premier League and the Champions League.
However, it has been stated that Al-Nassr, the club represented by Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool great Sadio Mane, has expressed interest in Alisson. They are looking for a new goalkeeper, and Manchester City’s Ederson is another player they have attempted to lure to the Gulf state.
According to Football Insider, Al Nassr is prepared to offer Alisson a ‘jaw-dropping deal’, and Liverpool is concerned about ‘his head being turned’.
However, Al Nassr appears to have moved on from both targets. They have instead resorted to Alisson, Ederson’s Brazil teammate. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Bento will join Al Nassr from Athletico Paranaense for €18 million.
“Bento to Al Nassr! Here we go! “Agreement in place between clubs and Athl. Paranaense for fee of around €18 million,” Romano wrote on X (previously Twitter). “Bento will undergo a medical and then sign a long-term contract with the club. He was on the Al Ittihad shortlist under the previous president, but is now expected to sign with Al Nassr.”
Alisson is not expected to return to Liverpool’s preseason training for at least another week. That comes after he helped Brazil reach the Copa America quarterfinals, only to be eliminated by Darwin Nunez’s Uruguay on penalties.
