‘Here we go,’ Fabrizio Romano believes Liverpool transfer deal will be done in the next 24 hours, medical today

Sepp van den Berg, a Liverpool defender, has decided to join Brentford.

The 22-year-old centre-back was extensively linked with a move away from Anfield this summer, but no club was willing to pay Liverpool’s asking price for him.

The Reds defender was linked with moves to both Bayer Leverkusen and Brentford before deciding to join the Premier League team.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have agreed to a transaction of around £25 million.

The two clubs are now finishing the contract, and the player will undergo medical testing later today. Romano adds that the transaction is expected to be finalized within the next 24 hours.

The transfer guru wrote on X: “Sepp van den Berg has decided to go to Brenford after accepting their proposal; here we go!”

“Liverpool and Brentford are completing a £25 million package, with the player scheduled to undergo medical tests later today. “Deal to be sealed in the next 24 hours.”

According to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Van den Berg is currently at the training field awaiting his final agreement.

Michel Edwards, the genius, is back in action at Liverpool

Van den Berg joined Liverpool in 2019, but has only made four senior appearances for the club.

Last season, he had a successful loan stay at Mainz 05, making 35 games.

Michael Edwards has a history of selling players for a hefty price, and he has done it again this summer.

The Reds let Fabio Carvalho to join Brentford for £27.5 million earlier this month, and Bobby Clark to join Austrian side RB Salzburg on a fantastic deal.

We notice a similar pattern here. Edwards ensured that the player would not be sold for less than their asking price, and the player would be relieved to finally be able to play regular games away from Anfield.

Arne Slot has ample depth in the back, and Van den Berg would have struggled to get regular minutes this season. The arrangement will benefit all parties concerned.

What remains to be seen is whether Liverpool will keep Joe Gomez or sell him for a big fee.

The England defender has been linked with a transfer away from the club this summer, and the Reds are unlikely to say no if a suitable deal comes in.
