Trent Alexander-Arnold is not yet at the pinnacle of his career, but he will go down as one of Liverpool’s best ever players.
That fresh-faced youth who rose through the ranks under Jurgen Klopp developed into one of the best right-backs of the Premier League era.
Alexander-Arnold went on to win everything in Liverpool’s colours, including helping his boyhood club end a three-decade wait to become English champions.
But there is a new dawn in the Liverpool dugout, with Klopp leaving in May and Arne Slot taking over, looking to build on the German’s success.
Alexander-Arnold recently talked up about his initial discussion with Slot, and the 25-year-old is presently on vacation after reaching the Euro 2024 final with England.
There is one dark cloud over the player’s head that needs to be addressed: the England star’s Anfield contract expires in 12 months.
Alexander-Arnold has been sighted on holiday with Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, and the Spanish giants are the club he is connected with.
In the midst of the rumours, the Anfield product opted to autograph a Real Madrid shirt for a fan, but Jamie O’Hara was not pleased.
The former Premier League midfielder believes the player’s performance was ‘bad’, and ‘I am not having that’, he told talkSPORT (30/07/24 at 6:30 am).
He went on to predict that the Merseyside giants will soon lose their star player because ‘he will be out of Liverpool’ and wearing Real Madrid colours.
Trent Alexander-Arnold inks a Real Madrid shirt
“Bellingham and Trent out in Miami, living their best life,” O’Hara recalled. “I seen him sign a Real Madrid shirt the other day.
“That is poor. I’m not having that. You can’t have that. As a Liverpool player, you cannot be signing Real Madrid shirts. Nah. I’m not having that.
“I think he will leave Liverpool. “I believe he will go to Real Madrid.”
There has been an overreaction to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s joining with Madrid, despite the fact that he would never criticize Liverpool.
Should fans be concerned about losing the all-action right back? Very much so. However, the authorities are to blame.
Why they have allowed Alexander-Arnold to be in a scenario where he has 12 months still to go is perplexing, but he is not alone; Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are all in the same boat.
However, sources have told HITC that van Dijk has decided on his Liverpool future, with the new Premier League season beginning next month.
