Nottingham Forest signed Elliot Anderson in the summer transfer window, after the Reds completed a deal with Newcastle that enabled both teams to exceed the PSR requirement.
Forest got the better end of the bargain. Nuno Espirito Santo added a talented player with Premier League experience, and the Magpies bought Odysseas Vlachodimos, Trentside’s third-choice goalkeeper.
Anderson has played in both of Forest’s friendlies thus far, a win over Chesterfield and a draw against Sunderland on Friday evening.
At 21 years old, he appears to be a long-term signing, and his arrival is part of a new recruitment strategy that sees the Reds prioritise signing talented players with plenty of energy.
Anderson has been practicing with his teammates for several weeks, and it appears that he is dazzling his colleagues on the training ground, and he could be ready to excel at City Ground.
Harry Toffolo sent a note to Elliot Anderson after training with him at Forest.
The Reds have traveled to Spain every year since their return to the Premier League, and they still have games against Millwall and Elche to look forward to in the Pinatar Arena.
Toffolo will compete for a position in the team with Ola Aina and Omar Richards this season, as Forest now has a variety of options at left-back.
He’s been so impressed with Anderson since his arrival at the City Ground that he’s taken to Instagram to highlight one facet of his game.
The player, who signed from Huddersfield for £2.5 million in the summer of 2022, told Anderson on Instagram: “Great work ethic, mate.”
Anderson is definitely a good trainer, which might lead to him impressing Nuno Espirito Santo and swiftly establishing a regular spot in the club.
Newcastle players praised Elliot Anderson.
Although the players in the Forest dressing room are unfamiliar with Anderson, the same cannot be said about Newcastle’s stars.
They’ve seen it all before, and Bruno Guimaraes lauded him following a victory over Brighton last preseason.
He told Chronicle Live, “I’m happy for Elliot Anderson; he’s a good player at a good time.” It was a fantastic way for him to wrap up our preseason campaign out here.”
Eddie Howe appears to have also wanted to keep him at Newcastle.
In April, he told TNT Sports: “Elliot Anderson was excellent, and he’s been trying to break into the team and stay there.”
Former Newcastle player Shay Given expressed his regret that the club had been obliged to sell Anderson during the summer.
Finally, Allan Saint-Maximin commented on Anderson’s Instagram remark, saying, “What a player,” after a fantastic pre-season performance last season.
Anderson will provide energy and guile to the Forest team.
Ryan Yates is a player in the Forest dressing room who, like Anderson at Newcastle, is living the dream of playing for his hometown club.
Yates is frequently complimented for his dedication to training and matches, and it appears that he now has a competitor vying for the title of top trainer.
Anderson was called ‘Geordie Maradona’ at St James’ Park, and he will aim to wow Forest fans as well.
At 21, the youngster’s future looks bright, and he will have moved to Forest with the intention of playing consistently, which he did not always accomplish at Newcastle.
His talent on the ball and dedication to the cause will not go unnoticed on Trentside, and it’s encouraging that he’s working really hard in training.
