Sevilla are hovering around the Moroccan, but an £8.4 million deal may not be enough to secure him.
Rangers’ resolve over Hamza Igamane will apparently be tested by an £8.4 million Sevilla proposal this summer, but the Spanish media accept the striker’s ‘boosted stature’ means they’ll likely have to pay more to sign him.
The Moroccan has been in explosive form for the majority of this season, following an initial adjustment phase following his departure from his homeland in the summer.
He has 13 goals to his name, and despite a recent drought that has kept him out of Barry Ferguson’s starting lineup, the 22-year-old is seen as a key sellable commodity capable of reviving the club’s long-stagnant transfer model.
There is already speculation about his signing, and when it was claimed earlier this month that Sevilla were interested, a new update from Vamos Mi Sevilla takes things further. They openly state that sporting director Victor Orta has put him on a list of striker targets, and that an opening bid of €10 million (£8.4 million) is being readied for the Moroccan.
However, it is noted that Igamane’s first call-up by Morocco for the upcoming international break has ‘further strengthened his stature.’ And if he plays or scores for his country, his price tag will only rise
Sevilla’s interest stems from Igamane’s similarities to Morocco colleague Youssef En-Nesyri, who scored 73 goals for Sevilla before moving to Fenerbahce for £17 million in 2024.
The two strikers will also square off in the Europa League tonight, as Ferguson’s side faces Jose Mourinho’s Fener in the second leg at Ibrox. And, after coming on as a substitute in the first leg, Igamane will be hoping to play a key role in Rangers’ progression to the quarter-finals.
Igamane already has four goals in the competition, with Vaclav Cerny (six) the only Rangers player who has scored more at this point.
