Hamza Igamane bidding war on the cards after new Rangers transfer interest emerges

Rangers could be set for a huge windfall this summer if the number of clubs interested in Hamza Igamane increases further.

Igamane has been the Light Blues’ breakout star this season after signing from FAR Rabat in his native Morocco last July, with 13 goals and three assists from his 35 appearances in Rangers colours so far.

The 22-year-old was a relative unknown to European football, let alone the Scottish Premiership, upon his arrival last summer, and has been one of few gems unearthed amid a dismal season at Ibrox.

However, with Rangers losing money hand over fist for several seasons following years of financial mismanagement, even incoming owners 49ers Enterprises may have to find ways of making quick cash.

Igamane’s performances at Ibrox this term began attracting transfer interest from Everton as soon as January – a matter of weeks after the Moroccan scored his first goals for Rangers in all competitions.

However, AfricaFoot reported on 8 March that Sevilla and Marseille are also both set to be in the hunt for his services this summer, with the Spanish side’s scouts sending scouts to several Rangers matches.

AfricaFoot’s sources confirmed that both Marseille and Sevilla are therefore set to compete for Igamane in the market over the coming months, giving Rangers the perfect chance to drive up his price tag.

Rangers and 49ers Enterprises hold the cards in the Igamane transfer.

If the Gers entered this summer’s transfer market with their current, cash-strapped ownership structure in place at Ibrox, Igamane would almost certainly be on his way out.

Rangers’ previous transfer tactics have resulted in far less money than the caliber of players required to compete with Celtic at the top, and this must alter this time around.

The expected entrance of 49ers Enterprises this summer, however, will provide the Gers with more financial wiggle room when it comes to arranging a summer exit for Igamane, with costs of £25 million already being discussed.

If the 49ers can push that price above £30 million, Rangers will profit by nearly 18 times on Igamane within a year, helping to end their financial troubles in one fell swoop and laying the groundwork for a new era of transfers at Ibrox.
