“Had a hit.” Daniel Farke gives an injury verdict on Willy Gnonto soon following Plymouth’s triumph

Daniel Farke watched in the rain as Leeds United defeated Plymouth Argyle 4-1 in extra time, and he commented about Willy Gnonto’s knock after the final whistle.

Gnonto got the ball moving for Leeds, scoring the only goal against Bristol City last Friday. A well-placed strike into the bottom corner soon after the hour mark gave Leeds the lead.

However, Plymouth came from nowhere to equalize, and Gnonto was substituted after 71 minutes. Just after halftime, the star was seen cradling his foot. He lasted till the last 20 minutes of normal time.

Leeds will want to keep Gnonto fit, since Dan James’ status is uncertain ahead of this weekend’s match against Rotherham. Especially now that he is finally showing the form that is expected of him.

Farke was queried about Gnonto’s knock after the win over Plymouth, which advanced us to the FA Cup fifth round. Farke says it’s only a knock, thankfully.

“Willy got whacked on the foot before the goal, but he still managed to finish cleanly. Just a bruise. Should be fine for Saturday,” Farke remarked of Gnonto after the game, as reported by Leeds Live on Tuesday night.

Following Leeds’ triumph, Daniel Farke provides an update on Willy Gnonto’s injury.

Thank goodness. Gnonto’s return to form comes at a vital time for Leeds, since James has been sidelined for a few of weeks – and at a crucial point in the season. Form is required.

Momentum is now vital in the race for automatic promotion. Continuing to win in the FA Cup boosts morale, and another goal for Gnonto will be well received. He is likely to maintain his position on Saturday.
