Former Leeds United defender Tony Dorigo feels midfielder Archie Gray is bound for success.
Gray has come onto the limelight under Daniel Farke this season, possibly faster than most people imagined.
Despite being only 17 years old, he has established himself as a regular for the Whites, starting 31 Championship games and four of Leeds’ five domestic cup matches in the 2023/24 season.
Former Leeds great Dorigo, who played for England and helped the Whites win the First Division title in 1992, is now a LUTV analyst and told iNews how impressed he is with Gray.
Dorigo stated, “What we saw against Chelsea was all of Archie’s game pieces coming together, and my gosh, what a player he will be. He is an excellent athlete both physically and technically.
“He reads the game quite well, and his decision-making – understanding what to do and when to do it – is unusual for someone his age. But he will only grow better, and he might be anything.”
How good can Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray become?
To be exposed to so much senior football at the age of 17 is truly extraordinary.
He not only plays consistently, but he does so for a squad that is soaring high in the Championship and has a good chance of returning to the Premier League.
If Leeds do return to England’s top flight after being relegated last season, Gray has already demonstrated his ability to compete in a Premier League midfield.
His stunning performance at Stamford Bridge in Leeds’ 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Chelsea (February 28) indicated that he is ready for the big time.
Gray looked like a £100 million-plus player as he faced one of football’s most expensive midfield partnerships, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.

Gray is gaining experience, and as long as he keeps his head down and works hard, he should be able to meet Dorigo’s claims.
