According to Football Insider, Georginio Rutter has received “big” interest from clubs considering a bid to recruit him following Leeds United’s play-off final defeat.
Football Insider revealed on May 29 that the Whites are open to bids for players such as Rutter, Wilfried Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville, Pascal Struijk, Illan Meslier, and Archie Gray before the transfer window reopens next month.
Leeds may have to fend off approaches for Rutter, 21, who was one of Daniel Farke’s best performers this season until losing 1-0 to Southampton at Wembley.
On May 26, Football Insider revealed that Leeds must recuperate an astronomical £150 million in player sales as a result of their promotion failure due to outstanding transfer payments.
Elland Road officials have a legitimate cause to expect a high sum for Rutter, who is under contract until 2028 after joining from Hoffenheim for £35.5 million in January 2023.
Leeds United could face a battle to retain Georginio Rutter.
The Frenchman had a fantastic season at Leeds, becoming a fan favourite after scoring eight goals and providing 18 assists in 51 games.
The forward started all but two Championship games this season as Farke’s team fell short at the last hurdle.
Rutter’s future at Elland Road has been called into question after Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Leeds may be forced to sell some of its best players as £73.6 million in overdue transfer fees are due by the end of June.
Paraag Marathe has conceded that sales may be necessary in order for the club to comply with the profit and sustainability regulations (PSR), but he refused to comment on who could be sold.
However, the Whites chairman stated that he looks forward to working with Farke again next season, following Football Insider’s revelation on May 28 that the 49ers-led board is entirely behind the German despite their promotion failure.
