‘Genuinely shocked’: Daniel Sturridge startled that Liverpool may be poised to acquire a ‘top-tier’ player

Liverpool has been rather quiet throughout the summer transfer season, doing no business at all.

However, as the window nears its end, Arne Slot may be poised to make some final late alterations to his squad, and one potential deal has startled Daniel Sturridge.

From possible incomings to outgoings, it’s all happening, with the window closing on Friday and clubs hurrying like unprepared consumers on Christmas Eve.

Looking at what has already been revealed, Liverpool has finalized the transfer of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, but he has been loaned back to the Spanish club.

That is a long-term signing, and Liverpool fans should expect to see him play in the coming years.

But Liverpool fans want some excitement and extra talent to their roster right now. They might be about to get their wish.

If you ask many inside Anfield, the most desired signing is a number six since it is a potential source of concern.

But Liverpool has already been rejected by Martin Zubimendi, therefore they have opted to seek further ahead in the field.

Saudi Arabia-linked Mohamed Salah has 12 months left on his current contract, and many fear he may go for nothing.

In that situation, a replacement is required, which might now come in the form of Italy international and Euro 2020 champion Federico Chiesa.

Sturridge remarked on Twitter that if the deal is done, sealed, and delivered, it will be a ‘top-tier’ signing for the Merseyside club.

Liverpool are likely to sign Chiesa for £12.5 million, which has left Sturridge ‘genuinely startled’ as he explains the type of player who would join the club.

    Federico Chiesa’s transfer fee

“Chiesa joining Liverpool is a top-tier signing,” Sturridge wrote. “Very good 1v1 player with quickness, tenacity, and the ability to finish.

“I was astonished by the price tag. “Mike and Jools strike again, lol…”

    Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool Future

Salah has begun well under Slot, which should come as no surprise given that he is one of the top forwards in the Premier League for a reason, and class is permanent.

Yes, his performance at the close of the previous season was disappointing, but he wasn’t the only Liverpool player whose form dipped.

At 32, it’s simple for the club to forget about offering Salah a new contract and letting him walk out the door for free next summer.

However, this would be a massive mistake because Salah’s fitness levels remain phenomenal, and he can still be a game changer for them.
