Gary Neville has expressed concern about what is going on at Nottingham Forest, citing three signs that the club is in danger.
Forest were recently fined four points for violating the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). They were one of three clubs punished with violating FFP rules this season, and as a result, they were relegated.
Everton were accused earlier this season, and their initial 10-point deduction was reduced to six on appeal. The Toffees now face a second accusation, while Leicester City has also been charged.
Speaking on The Overlap, Neville believes the club’s atmosphere, Mark Clattenburg’s appointment, and PSR indicate that it is in trouble.
He stated: “It has nothing to do with financial success or the point deduction. It is due to the character, environment, and apparent panic that has occurred over the last six weeks, not just with the points deduction. Appointing Mark Clattenburg, to me, is nonsense.
“The owner’s appearance at the side of the pitch reveals panic inwardly. I’ve been in a football boardroom, I’ve been in a business, and you can tell when there’s a crisis or panic because you see things like that emanate externally. I’m worried about what’s going on.
“The Clattenburg one is ridiculous in my opinion. You’ve given the players an excuse. Never give the players the excuse that the officials are all to blame for the missed points. I know you’ve had some unexpected surprises.
On PSR, he added: “Every club that’s been charged has been aware of Everrton’s craziness. When [Forest] signed 34 players, something didn’t feel right. You are aware of the clubs that are causing problems. You spent something like $100 million and just remained up. “That is not working.”
