Gary Lineker anticipates an action-packed season finale for Newcastle United.

As the 2024/25 season nears its conclusion, Newcastle United is still fighting on three fronts.

Sunday’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Nottingham Forest placed Eddie Howe’s side back in contention for Champions League qualifying, while Newcastle climbed back to fifth place in the Premier League table.

Newcastle’s Premier League campaign continues on Wednesday evening with a trip to Liverpool, who the Magpies will face in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley next month.

Gary Lineker makes a ridiculous Newcastle United trophy prediction.

Howe is ensuring Newcastle are not distracted by the forthcoming cup final, but there is plenty of excitement on Tyneside about another trip to Wembley.

Of course, there is still lots to battle for in the Premier League, and Alan Shearer believes Newcastle will reach the Champions League this season.

As for the cup tournaments, Gary Lineker has made a prediction that Newcastle fans would adore.

Lineker stated on The Rest is Football: “I have a strange sense that Newcastle will win both cups.

“Because you know what it’s like, it’s like the old waiting for a bus and then two come along at once.”

The prospect of winning both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup threw Alan Shearer into a frenzy. The Newcastle icon replied: “Lads, if that were to happen you wouldn’t see me for months, I’d go missing.”

Eddie Howe is on the verge of becoming a Newcastle Legend.

During his first three years as Newcastle manager, Howe has outperformed all expectations.

After leading Newcastle clear of relegation, Howe guided the Magpies to the 2023 Carabao Cup final and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.

Despite a significant lack of investment on the playing squad owing to PSR concerns, Howe is on the verge of taking a step forward.

Champions League qualification is critical for finances and retaining top players, but all Newcastle fans will have their sights set on winning.

After losing the 2023 final, Howe committed to work toward a trophy, and he has kept his word. If he can break his trophy drought this season, whether in the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup, he will rightfully be remembered as a club great.
