Johan Lange joined Tottenham in November as the club’s new Sporting Director.
Lange has returned to the Premier League with Tottenham following a time at Aston Villa, and it’s safe to assume that his first January window in charge may be remembered as a resounding success.Indeed, the signings of Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin appear to be masterstrokes, with Lucas Bergvall arriving late in the day to bolster Spurs’ young core.
On the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold discussed Bergvall’s arrival to Spurs, claiming that Lange had been pushing for Bergvall’s signing since the day he arrived.
Lange advocated for Bergvall from the start
Gold provided insight into the £9 million player.
“Johan Lange joined the club in November and campaigned for this contract from the start. He’s a young player with a Scandinavian background, which will be his best area, but he has an extensive understanding of world football, and as a Dane from Scandinavia, he is familiar with the rising stars emerging from that region,” Gold added.
Supported him
Bergvall’s signing is a clear indication of Lange’s skill as a sporting director.
Individuals in this capacity are frequently overshadowed by the chairman or manager’s ambitions, but Spurs appear to have a lot of faith in Lange’s ability to recognize a potential star.
Of course, whether Bergvall lives up to his potential at Tottenham in the coming years remains to be seen, but the fact that Spurs outbid Barcelona for his services suggests that he is a high prospect.
