Fresh Nottingham Forest transfer ‘target’ emerges as £27 million release clause is set out

Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds look for summer window recruits.

Nottingham Forest are thought to be interested in promising German forward Maximilian Beier before the summer transfer window opens on Friday.

Strengthening head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s attacking resources will be a focus for the Reds as they seek to advance in the Premier League. Che Adams, a free agency striker, is already on their list of targets, but a fresh name has arisen.

According to the German daily Bild (via Sport Witness), Forest is one of the clubs interested in Beier. However, it appears that the Reds will have to compete for the Hoffenheim forward’s signing, as well as pay a substantial transfer fee.

Liverpool, Brentford, and Bayer Leverkusen are among the clubs said to be interested in the 21-year-old. However, Manchester United appear to have been the first to try to entice him to the Premier League.

United are thought to have questioned Hoffenheim about the terms of signing Beier. The player’s club responded by citing a 32.5 million euros (£27.3 million) release clause, which supposedly reduces by almost £2 million per year.

Beier scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 35 games for Hoffenheim, earning the title of player of the season in 2023/24. The teenager, who only made his senior debut for his country earlier this month, has been named to Germany’s Euro 2024 team.

This summer, Forest will want to add more goal scoring threats to their roster. A complete squad revamp is not necessary at City Ground, but a few crucial signings may go a long way.

However, it will be necessary to balance the books. The club does not want to violate Profitability and Sustainability Rules again after receiving a four-point deduction previous season. It signifies that both outgoings and incomings are expected.
