He is poised to become a free agent this summer.
Leeds United are interested in signing a “quality” player who Frank Lampard has previously praised, according to a fresh report.
Leeds are seeking to return to the Premier League.
Daniel Farke and new owners 49ers Enterprises have stabilized the ship at Elland Road in the eight months since relegation from the Premier League.
The Whites have been in incredible form in the Championship in 2024, winning all but one of their 12 second-tier games and putting themselves in a strong position to gain immediate promotion back to the top division.
If Farke can return Leeds to the top flight at the first attempt, the German is likely to be supported in the transfer market by the club’s existing owners. According to reports, Leeds could spend up to £100 million this summer, with targets already set.
Bright Osayi-Samuel, a former Queens Park Rangers winger who now plays for Fenerbahce, is reported to be interested, with a £7 million offer being made. However, he is not the only Fenerbahce player who Leeds is interested in.
Leeds wants to sign Michy Batshuayi.
According to rumors from Turkey over the last 48 hours, Leeds are ‘likely to knock on Fenerbahce’s door at the conclusion of the season’ for striker Michy Batshuayi.
In truth, the Belgian, who presently earns £82,000 per week, is out of contract at the end of the season and will be available for free transfer.
The 30-year-old has plenty of Premier League experience, having won the title with Chelsea and spent time with Crystal Palace. He has also been in excellent form after coming to Turkey, first with Besiktas, netting 54 goals in over 100 appearances during the 2021/22 season.
Leeds may see someone like Batshuayi as a good choice if they win promotion, especially as their attacking ranks now include teenagers Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto, and Georginio Rutter.
Lampard, who worked with Batshuayi at Chelsea, previously lauded the striker, saying: “It was interesting to see not only the player – I kind of knew the quality Michy had and it’s always good to see that up close – but also the personality.”
“Since early in the season, his training, demeanour, positivity, and quality when he comes on, which is obviously the most important thing, have all been excellent.
“When Tammy scores on a regular basis and establishes himself in the team, it is not easy. It’s the same with Oli [Giroud]. Michy has demonstrated all appropriate responses to this situation. He’s been extremely excellent for us so far, and maintaining a positive attitude when you’re not playing frequently is crucial not only for him, because it can be difficult at times, but also for the group. He deserves special recognition for that. “He’s positive, hardworking, and enjoys scoring goals.
