Leeds United fans had hoped for three deadline-day signings in addition to the additions of Ao Tanaka and Isaac Schmidt, but it now appears doubtful that the club would make an additional acquisition.
Following the loss of Georginio Rutter, Daniel Farke stated that his side need four new recruits. Following the departures of Crysencio Summerville and Rutter, two attacking players remain. Two have been added in the last fortnight.
Manor Solomon is on loan from Tottenham, and Largie Ramazani was signed from Almeria for £10 million. Leeds has also signed Japanese star Tanaka, and a deal to sign Schmidt is anticipated to be completed before the 11 p.m deadline.
However, Farke stated in Thursday’s press conference that Leeds will stay cautious in their search for a No. 10. Gustavo Hamer, Roland Sallai, and Mohamed Belloumi have all been linked with a late transfer.
Leeds should be one of four clubs looking at Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson.
However, Leeds have been unable to sign an attacking player because Sheffield United refuse to compromise on their wish to keep Hamer, and a failure to reach an agreement with Freiburg means Sallai will remain in Germany.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol claims on the Transfer Centre (30/08, 6.55) that four unnamed teams are interested in signing Arsenal outcast Reiss Nelson, ahead of a potential late deadline day move.
Nelson would be an excellent fit for Leeds, despite his lofty goals. A player who can play on both flanks and in the 10 position, is excellent from set pieces, and is extremely both-footed – exactly what Leeds need.
Nelson rejected the Leeds transfer in 2020, but time is running short.
Nelson is likely to join a Premier League club before the end of the transfer window, or he may stay at Arsenal for another season to provide depth to Milel Arteta’s team, but he needs to move.
That’s evident. Last season, just over 250 minutes of Premier League football proved this. Nelson will view himself as a top-tier Premier League footballer, which he is right to believe, but time is running out.
Four clubs are interested, and with less than four hours left in the transfer window, Leeds must be in the running for Nelson, who rejected a move to Leeds in the summer of 2020, according to CBS.
