Football Insider has been informed by sources that Leeds United has withdrawn from the competition to sign Blackburn Rovers attacker Sammie Szmodics.

The 28-year-old midfielder is reportedly preferring a move to the English top division and is in early talks with Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town.

It was reported by Football Insider on July 23 that Szmodics is eager to join Ipswich and establish himself in the Premier League.

Leeds shown interest early in the transfer window, but they are currently giving other transactions priority in their quest for return to the Premier League.

With 27 goals in 44 appearances, Szmodics concluded the previous season as the Championship’s leading goal scorer while Blackburn finished in 19th place.

Sammie Szmodics will not be signing with Leeds United.

Beside the Golden Boot Szmodics had an outstanding season, earning a spot on the Championship Team of the Season.

Since then, he has won a spot on the Republic of Ireland’s senior international team, making his debut in their 0-0 draw with Belgium in March.

In order to succeed in earning promotion back to the Premier League, Leeds must make additions to their roster before the arduous season begins.

Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle have joined the West Yorkshire team, while 16 first-team players, including wonderkid Archie Gray, have left for Tottenham.

Leeds are hoping to add Jordan James, a young player for Birmingham City, to assist strengthen their midfield, according to a report by Football Insider on July 30.
