Daniel Farke has been named the Championship Manager of the Month for February, winning the award for the third time this season.
Daniel Farke, Leeds United’s manager, has been voted Championship Manager of the Month for the third time this season. The German oversaw a flawless five-game winning streak in February, with the squad conceding only one goal.
It also means Farke has won the trophy for the second time in a row, having previously won in January. Farke only won the accolade once while at Norwich City, when he won two titles.
“Once again, throughout February, we managed to keep up our really good start to 2024 and I can only give compliments to my players and staff,” Farke told reporters. “Winning nine consecutive Championship games in January and February was a true team effort that demanded everyone’s full commitment.
Unfortunately, Ilia Gruev did not receive the Player of the Month honor. That went to Ipswich Town’s Omari Hutchinson, who had two assists and three injury-time goals in five minor appearances.
Danny Wilson, chair of the Championship Manager of the Month judging panel, said: “A really productive month saw Daniel’s side go unbeaten in five games and produce a fantastic turnaround victory over Leicester City.” Only conceding one goal in February gives them confidence that, with their attacking flair, they can outscore the opponent.
Don Goodman, EFL analyst for Sky Sports, said: “In this fantastic battle for promotion to the Premier League, which shows no signs of abating, February was Leeds United’s turn to take the initiative with an incredible run of wins that propelled them into second position at the end of the month. With seven fixtures in all competitions, including five long away trips and a monumental victory against Leicester City that blew the title wide open again, Farke delivered a masterclass in management, and it will take an identical commitment over the next two months to keep pushing over the finish line.”
