Tottenham received some excellent news on midfielder Pape Matar Sarr earlier today.
The 21-year-old has been absolutely brilliant in his debut season at the club. He has emerged as the favorite starting midfielder with Yves Bissouma, appearing in 18 games and scoring two goals and assisting on two others.
Spurs acknowledged his solid efforts by providing him a new long-term contract, which was made public yesterday.
He did suffer a minor setback during last week’s game against Bournemouth. He opened the scoring with a fantastic strike from the edge of the box, but he was pulled off hurt at the half-hour mark.
The guy was in tears as he was removed from the game, and the manager acknowledged afterward that it was a hamstring injury.
However, the Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick claimed today that the midfielder had an assessment and was ‘passed fit to play’ for Senegal in the AFCON, which begins next week.
This is fantastic news for Senegal as well as Tottenham, who have been dealing with a terrible injury issue recently.
They will now be hoping that Sarr returns from the competition unscathed and starts his good form where he left off.
