Leeds United are said to be interested in acquiring Bournemouth winger David Brooks during the January transfer window, and journalist Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT why he’d be a good fit at Elland Road under Daniel Farke.
With the Whites vying for promotion to the Premier League this season, Farke and his recruitment team may consider the winter window as an excellent time to bolster their squad for the second half of the season. The Yorkshire club brought in a slew of new players over the summer, but the opening few months of the season have allowed them to identify any flaws in the squad.
Leeds are currently trailing Ipswich Town, Southampton, and Leicester City in the Championship promotion battle, so more acquisitions may be required if they are to finish in the top two.
Leeds is interested in Brooks.
According to TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, both Leeds and Southampton are interested in bringing the Welsh international back to the Championship on loan before the window closes at the end of January. With Farke’s team trailing the Saints in the fight for promotion, they may have an advantage in luring Brooks away from Bournemouth.
Although Brooks has struggled to find consistent game time in the Premier League, the former Sheffield United winger was productive in front of goal while playing in the Championship. The Welsh playmaker appeared in 25 league games for the Cherries, scoring five goals, assisting on six others, and generating six ‘big opportunities’ for his team.
Dean Jones – Brooks could be the deciding factor.
Brooks, according to Jones, would be a wise signing for Farke and his recruitment team owing to his temperament and adaptability to their system. The journalist adds that Elland Road supporters would love to see a player like Brooks play for their team, and he may be the difference in their bid to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Jones revealed to GIVEMESPORT…
“I believe David Brooks would be a good profile signing for them to consider.” When you examine the sort of game that Leeds is playing as well as the mentality that is required within that team to not only survive but also thrive, I believe David Brooks fits the bill well. I believe fans would like to see a player like David Brooks as well. It’s a player who I believe can make the difference for them.”
Leeds United’s star could entice Premier League clubs.
Leeds lost a slew of players during the summer transfer window following their relegation to the Championship, with several of its stars seeking moves back to top leagues throughout Europe. Wilfried Gnonto hoped to join that list before the deadline and even submitted a transfer request in an attempt to force a departure, but he ended up staying at Elland Road.
Everton were one among the clubs interested in signing him, but a deal fell through. Jones has now told GIVEMESPORT that Premier League clubs may be tempted to entice him away from Leeds in January after he has struggled to feature frequently under Daniel Farke.
The Italy international has only made seven league starts this season, but the Yorkshire club may be tempted to cash in if an offer comes in before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
