‘Fantastic’: Manager claims he’s ‘eager’ to work with Forest loanee after seeing him play only 30 minutes

Nottingham Forest have had a good start to the 2024/25 season, with one win and two draws.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team had a busy summer, with a large number of players coming through the City Ground doors.

With 11 new additions over the summer, Forest have made quick progress in their first three games of the season.

However, there have been some departures from the City Ground, as Forest needed to balance the books when it came to PSR in June.

However, with so many new players joining the club, several of the younger players had to leave on loan in order to continue their growth.

Wigan boss impressed with Nottingham Forest loanee.

Over the summer, Forest sanctioned the departure of double-digit players via a number of mechanisms.

Five of the departures were loan deals, allowing the players to play more regular football than they would have at Forest.

Dale Taylor, a 20-year-old centre-forward, was one of the players that left on loan and joined League One club Wigan Athletic.

With the EFL currently about four games into its different seasons, Wigan manager Shaun Maloney has praised Taylor’s early performances.

“Dale is a talented footballer who we believe will be an excellent addition to our squad,” Maloney stated on the club’s website.

“He has already gained a lot of experience playing in League One and internationally for Northern Ireland, and I’m very excited to work with him.”

“He is a strong and robust forward, who will add a different dimension to our frontline.”

Dale Taylor has made a promising start at Wigan.

Taylor is flourishing in League One at a time when Forest’s attacking options are not at their best in terms of depth.

Clearly, his manager is impressed with the 20-year-old’s performance despite only playing 30 minutes in his first game.

With Chris Wood as Forest’s main attacking option, an injury to the New Zealand striker might ruin Nuno’s plans at the City Ground.

If Taylor continues to perform until the winter window, Forest may consider bringing him back to the club if they are in severe need of some upgrades to their top-tier depth.
