Leeds United fans will be concerned about Archie Gray leaving the club after Paraag Marathe confessed his future at Elland Road is uncertain.
Speaking on the current episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who is still well-connected at his former club, claimed the 18-year-old might be moved this summer to help balance the budget.
On May 26, Football Insider stated that the Whites must recuperate an astronomical £150 million in player sales as a result of their promotion failure due to outstanding transfer costs.
The club’s most recent accounts revealed that it must pay £73.6 million in unpaid payments by June 30, fuelling rumors that some of its stars may depart the club in the coming weeks.
Leeds chairman Marathe has recognized that sales may be essential in order for the club to comply with the profit and sustainability guidelines (PSR), but he has not ruled out the possibility of Gray being sold this summer.
Leeds United could lose Archie Gray, as player sales are imminent.
Robinson believes the Whites’ PSR position could be an issue as they attempt to keep some of their key players at Elland Road ahead of next season.
“They won’t be able to keep the squad intact,” he explained to Football Insider.
“The manager has done a decent job this year, with the exception of a few results. They could have gone up automatically, but they didn’t finish.
“We know about the club’s financial position and the losses it has incurred.
“We’re also aware of the outstanding transfer costs, which will be an issue. FFP and PSR will become a concern.
“The chairman has stated that there will have to be compromises and deals, and he specifically included Archie Gray in that comment.
“That will alarm Leeds fans; they will be upset because he is a player they want to keep.
“You are looking at the likes of Gray, Gnonto and Summerville potentially leaving.”
