Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the issue involving Chelsea and Nottingham Forest defender Murillo.

This summer, the 21-year-old is a sought man, and Forest will have to work hard to keep the valuable Brazilian defender.

Another enforcer may be on his way out, with Moussa Niakhate scheduled for a medical at Lyon ahead of a £20 million deal.

Forest must continue to exercise caution in terms of Financial Fair Play, and the Senegal international may not be the last player to depart.

Murillo is still in the eyes of a number of clubs, and Romano has provided an update on Chelsea’s interest.

It appears that Chelsea is quite interested in taking a chance on Murillo from Forest during the summer transfer window.

Todd Boehly is making Forest’s ability to quickly accumulate players appear to be a well-thought-out strategy, despite Chelsea’s constant market activity.

Now, Romano reports Chelsea has contacted Forest about Murillo’s availability for next season.

He claims that the club has requested information and conditions from Forest as they prepare to consider offers for the defender.

However, at this point in the procedures, no proposal, negotiations, or talks have taken place.

He stated on X: Chelsea have inquired about the terms of Murillo’s transfer, praising the Nottingham Forest centre-back.

“No proposal, no negotiations and still no talks ongoing at this stage, as UOL called.”

During the 2023/24 season, Jamie Redknapp praised Murillo’s performance in a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, calling him ‘class’.

The Niakhate sale will enable Forest demand the highest price for Murillo.

Forest will need to be realistic this summer.

Finally, in their current condition, retaining top players will be incredibly tough, with huge clubs vying for them.

However, if Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala left the football club, Forest would be well on its way to meeting the PSR standards.

That implies that if Chelsea, or any other Premier League side, wants to sign Murillo, they will have to dig deep.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Morgan Gibbs-White are two additional Forest youngsters who will be on elite teams’ radars.

To remove Niakhate and Mangala from the team in order to satisfy the FFP criteria would have to be considered good business, which can only auger well for the remainder of the transfer window.
