“Extraordinary” – Phil Hay reacts to “concerning” news about “fantastic” Leeds star – report

He regarded it as “extraordinary”. Phil Hay, a Leeds United reporter, was surprised after learning of an update on one of the club’s current players.

    Leeds is unbeaten in 2024.

Daniel Farke has had a terrific year so far, with Leeds winning all five Championship games in 2024 to re-establish their push for automatic promotion.

The Whites have also won their third and fourth-round FA Cup fixtures this season, with a 4-1 replay triumph against Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday securing a trip to Chelsea later this month.

Things are going well on the pitch, but one Leeds player has provided a disturbing update off the field.

Phil Hay reacts to Patrick Bamford’s update. Bamford is establishing himself as a regular starter under Farke this year. The Leeds manager described his wondergoal against Peterborough as “fantastic” after a disappointing year in 2023.

On his My Mate’s a Footballer podcast with Joe Wilkinson, Bamford said that irate supporters pursued him and his family after he missed a penalty for Leeds against Newcastle near the end of the 2022/23 season.

“The scenario Leeds were in was pretty dreadful; we seemed like we were going to lose, which we finally did. I always had Twitter until around mid-March. The assault became so severe that it threatened my entire family, including my young daughter.

“As I turn up the drive to get in, I can’t even cross the gate because two cars are blocking it.” I went to lower my window. As I did, they raised their windows and began shooting at me. The gate opened because my father had opened it, and they drove away.

“I believe it was the culmination of the previous several weeks. I received a lot of flack for it. The way they stated it was insane. It goes from chats with David [Bamford’s sports psychologist] about how I’m feeling to having to deal with the fact that Michaela does not feel comfortable in her own home.

“I called him almost immediately after that happened. He asked, ‘How do you feel?’ I answered, ‘I’m not outraged about the abuse; I’m angry that someone has come up to the house. The club ended up putting security on the premises for the night.

Hay spoke to X about the news from Bamford, adding, “This is really exceptional and frightening. Football as a whole has significant rage issues.”

Hay’s comments are right on, and the striker’s reveal is horrible. therefore-called’ supporters’ targeting the player and his family are appalling, therefore it is a true compliment to Bamford that he has managed to remain silent for so long while also regaining top form.
