Leeds United advanced to the fifth round of The FA Cup earlier this week, defeating Plymouth Argyle 4-1, with Willy Gnonto scoring his second goal in the past two games.
Last Friday, Gnonto, 20, scored the only goal in Leeds’ 1-0 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate. He opened the score at Home Park, hammering home a right-footed shot from 20 yards.
Only his third goal of the season, but it was of high quality and demonstrated that he is quickly regaining confidence – not only in himself, but also in Daniel Farke. It will be a valuable asset for us.
Destiny Udogie reacts as Willy Gnonto scores for Leeds again.
Gnonto is reminding everyone what he is capable of. The former Inter and Zurich player impressed in the Premier League last season. However, following a turbulent summer, he has struggled to provide his best form for us.
Fans have forgotten how thrilling he was when he initially arrived at Leeds, whether it was scoring against Manchester United, a Paolo Di Canio-style scissor-kick goal, or his performance against Aston Villa.
Perhaps now that the January transfer window has closed and Gnonto has had a chance to play, he has a clear head with which to do so. Destiny Udogie and Mateo Joseph, both Tottenham players worth £21 million, applauded Gnonto.
