HITC understands that West Ham United’s attempt to sign Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams was unsuccessful.
West Ham are looking at a number of possibilities to boost their squad under new boss Julen Lopetegui, with right-back being one of the top priorities.
The Hammers have spoken with Southampton about Kyle Walker-Peters and Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but they are also looking at other options.
West Ham made a bid for Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams.
HITC can confirm that one of the names they bid for earlier this summer was Neco Williams.
The 23-year-old Welsh international was regarded as an excellent fit for Lopetegui’s system, and it is understood that a ‘player plus cash’ approach was made, but Forest rejected the offer, insisting that they will not allow Williams to go this summer.
Williams, who has recently joined Unique Sports Group, has two years left on his current contract at the City Ground, and despite the West Ham bid being rejected, a number of clubs are checking into his situation.
Europeans are showing interest in the Welsh star
We understand the former Liverpool star has piqued the interest of Italian heavyweights AC Milan and German champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Apart from West Ham, Manchester United, Newcastle, and Tottenham are among the Premier League clubs keeping an eye on his position.
Williams’ flexibility to play both right and left is thought to be a significant draw, but Forest claim they will not let him leave the City Ground this summer.
