To make Joe Rodon’s loan deal permanent, Leeds United will have to pay a significant amount to Tottenham.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are trying to sell Leeds United loanee Joe Rodon for between £10-15 million next summer.

It is understood that several Premier League clubs inquired about the centre-back during the January transfer window but were turned down by Spurs’ asking price.

According to Football Insider, Ange Postecoglou’s side is eager to cash in on Rodon, who is not part of the Lilywhites’ long-term plan.

According to Football Insider (9 February), the Whites are anxious to keep the Welshman permanently but will struggle to do so unless they regain Premier League status.

Tottenham’s valuation would not be an issue for Leeds if they were promoted, but continuing in the second division would be a huge challenge in enticing the Wales international to continue.

He arrived to Elland Road on a season-long loan from Tottenham last summer, although there was no option to buy.

Daniel Farke’s side may possibly face competition from top-tier teams to sign the 26-year-old next summer, following his outstanding achievements in the Championship this season.

Rodon has appeared in 31 games across all competitions for Leeds, keeping 12 league clean sheets.

He has helped Leeds achieve the Championship’s second-best defensive record this season, trailing only league leaders Leicester City.

Leeds are third in the Championship table following their 3-0 victory over Rotherham United on Saturday (10 February).

Their next match is away to Swansea City on Tuesday evening (February 13).
