Sources have told Football Insider that Nottingham Forest must sell one of their best players by June 30th in order to improve their financial predicament.
If Forest fails to balance the books in the next weeks, they may face another points loss next season for potentially violating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability criteria.
The first independent panel, which docked the Reds four points in March of this year, found that the team is at risk of breaking the regulations again this season.
It would require Nuno Espirito Santo’s team to achieve about £30 million in profit from player sales before the deadline at the end of June.
Nottingham Forest face a deadline to sell their prized player.
Forest has had a difficult few months after receiving their four-point deduction for exceeding expenditure limits.
An appeals body has denied their request to have the punishment lowered, upholding the original decision.
That means the Reds are three points ahead of third-placed Luton Town going into the last few games of the Premier League season.
While top-flight survival would alleviate some of their financial difficulties, Forest will most certainly have to trade one of their key players.
Football Insider reported on May 5 that they may be obliged to sell Brazilian defender Murillo this summer, after a number of Premier League clubs have been following his situation.
There is also likely to be interest in strikers Anthony Elanga and Morgan Gibbs-White, with Football Insider reporting that the Reds are seeking a fee of up to £50 million to complete a transfer for the latter.
Although Nuno will not want to lose any of those players as he attempts to go forward next season, the club’s financial fair play worries may force him to.
