Nottingham Forest News has chatted with HITC Football’s recruitment guru, Graeme Bailey, to examine what lies ahead for Reyna when the summer transfer window opens next Monday.
Nottingham Forest decide to sign Giovanni Reyna after he impressed them.
Reyna arrived in the winter window and only made nine Premier League appearances, totaling 230 minutes of football.
Only two of those appearances came from the starting XI, with the American missing the last three games of the season.
The 21-year-old made his Forest debut in April against Wolves, and he assisted in their 2-2 draw.
However, Bailey has now told Nottingham Forest News that the club has no plans to work out a return for the American, despite being impressed with what they witnessed.
“Nottingham Forest are not currently looking to bring Gio Reyna back,” Bailey stated.
“They were pleased with him, and the loan move went well, but they are currently considering other options.”
“Forest has options after staying awake. They claim they do not have to sell anyone, but there is a lot of interest in some of their players.
Giovanni Reyna posed more than just an attacking menace.
Reyna was signed as an offensive threat, but it is clear that the 21-year-old could provide more to the squad than just goals and assists.
The American may have struggled to give the finishing touch in the final third, but it should be noted that he was never able to maintain any consistent game time in the starting XI.
However, when he did take to the pitch, he contributed significantly to the team’s efforts to keep their Premier League position.

Nuno praised Reyna after the game against Wolves, saying: “”He played well and provided us good possession. He had good circumstances, passing, and finishing. Reyna is a fantastic choice for us and distinct from what we usually get.”
However, it appears that the Portuguese manager was never convinced that the 21-year-old was good enough to be a regular starter, despite having Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga ahead of him.
