Exclusive: Nottingham Forest in negotiations to join Leicester City in ‘war’ against the Premier League

Senior Nottingham Forest officials will undertake internal discussions about joining Leicester City in a legal battle with the Premier League, Football Insider has learned.

The Foxes have filed legal action against the Premier League and the EFL after being charged with violating Profit and Sustainability Rules last week.

Forest received a similar punishment this season for exceeding their permissible losses over a three-year period by £34.5 million.

They were deducted four points after a hearing with an independent commission, but they declared on Monday (March 25) that they would appeal the decision.

Nottingham Forest will discuss legal action against the Premier League after the points deduction appeal.

Forest’s appeal verdict will not be issued until after the 2023-24 season.

According to Football Insider, Nottingham Forest may have to sell five of its “best players” regardless of whether they are relegated from the Premier League.

According to Football Insider, prominent figures at Forest are considering joining Leicester after they “waged war” against the Premier League.

The EFL has already placed a registration ban on Leicester, and they could face a points deduction next season if they are promoted.

There is dissatisfaction at the City Ground because the Premier League did not consider the sale of Brennan Johnson as mitigating circumstances during their hearing.

The Premier League requested an eight-point sanction for Forest’s violation, which the club viewed as “utterly disproportionate”.

Discussions about prospective legal action will take place, although there are concerns that doing so could result in a worse punishment.
