Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to recruit Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Omar Marmoush and are hopeful of completing the transfer, with the Egypt international eager to join the Premier League club.
After failing to sign many of their top attacking targets, Nottingham Forest has turned their attention to another name on their transfer wishlist in the last days of the summer season.
A planned transfer for Arsenal benchwarmer Eddie Nketiah fell through. Forest signed a £28 million deal with Feyenoord, which could rise to £30 million, for Santiago Gimenez, but the Mexico striker looked to have concerns about the move.
HITC stated this week that Nottingham Forest had made another large money bid of £25 million for Yoane Wissa.
But Brentford have made it clear that they have no intention of moving a player who scored double figures in the Premier League last season, especially because Ivan Toney has agreed personal terms with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
While Omar Marmoush may not have been Forest’s first choice to bolster an occasionally sluggish frontline, the two-time European champions are now moving forward with a deal for the Egypt attacker.
Nottingham Forest is interested in signing Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush
A 25-year-old Cairo native who has spent the previous seven seasons in Germany.
He joined Wolfsburg in 2017 and is now at Frankfurt after loan spells with St Pauli and Stuttgart.
Die Adler has a proven track record of helping promising attackers reach their full potential and then selling them for a sizable profit.
Marmoush, who scored 17 goals and provided six assists last season, is now expected to follow in the footsteps of Luka Jovic, Ante Rebic, Sebastien Haller, and Paris Saint-Germain’s £68 million man Randal Kolo Muani.
HITC understands that Marmoush, who has revealed his Premier League ‘dream’, is eager to go to the City Ground. Nottingham Forest are moving ahead with the transaction and, having entered advanced talks, are certain that a deal will be reached with a guy who has emerged as their key target ahead of Friday’s 11 p.m. deadline.
Marmoush, a skillful and mobile footballer known for his dazzling solo runs, is an attacker in the Wissa tradition rather than a burly targetman like Taiwo Awoniyi or Chris Wood.
Forest may miss out on Yoane Wisssa and Santiago Gimenez.
“He works extremely hard and is difficult to defend against,” Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmoller remarked last year, after Marmoush scored twice in a 3-0 victory over Union Berlin, according to the Bundesliga website.
“His speed makes him an awkward opponent for defenders when he runs in behind them.” I admire his diligence and willingness to listen. His ambitions are a reward for his efforts.
“Omar is an excellent player who has recently discovered his ability to score goals. We are dealing with him there. I really enjoy how hard he works, how he listens, is interested, and gets involved.
“He now also has a feeling for getting into dangerous areas again and again, and helping us with his footballing technique.”
The amount Nottingham Forest are willing to pay remains to be seen.
According to German tabloid BILD, Frankfurt is looking for up to £33 million for a player who is emerging as one of Europe’s most underappreciated attackers.
