Joe Worrall is set to be the next first-team player to leave Nottingham Forest following the departure of Moussa Niakhate.
On the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke reported that the club will now aim to invest in fresh signings to improve its defensive unit.
Niakhate completed his £27 million move to Lyon on July 4, and with Worrall ready to follow him out the door, Nuno Espirito Santo will be left with only three centre backs.
Murillo, meanwhile, has received interest from Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham, according to Football Insider.
Forest are expected to be busy in the transfer season, with Evangelos Marinakis looking to spend and strengthen the playing roster.
Following a transfer twist, Joe Worrall will be the next Nottingham Forest player to go.
Worrall, 27, has been with Forest since 2011, progressing through the academy system to make 226 appearances for his hometown club.
He has fallen out of favour in recent years, and he spent the second part of the season on loan at Turkish giants Besiktas, making only nine appearances.
Football Insider stated on June 28 that an offer of roughly £5 million would secure Worrall’s departure, with Forest aiming to reduce their pay expenditure.
The club was concerned about profit and sustainability violations in June, but the departures of Niakhate and Orel Mangala, both to Lyon, alleviated those fears.
However, they are still eager to reduce their salary cost in order to make place for new signings, and they are frantic to avoid further financial consequences.
This follows the club’s four-point deduction in the Premier League last season.
Worrall is one of the players expected to be sold this summer, while Murillo, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Morgan Gibbs-White are still being pursued.
