Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool career could be coming to a close.

Jurgen Klopp handpicked the contentious striker in 2022, but he has struggled under new manager Arne Slot this season.

Diogo Jota’s injury against Chelsea provided an opportunity for the No. 9 to join Slot’s starting lineup.

He struggled for goals, scoring only twice in the Premier League this season, and has since been replaced in the lineup by Luis Diaz.

The Colombian, who plays as a centre-forward, has formed a front three with Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

Darwin was expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season if Slot was unable to bring out the best in him.

However, his tenure with the Reds could come to an end this month.

First offer made for Darwin Nunez

Clubs in Saudi Arabia are interested in the 25-year-old. Al-Hilal, headed by former Benfica manager Jorge Jesus, are seeking for someone to replace Neymar, while Al-Nassr will aim to boost their attack whenever Anderson Talisca, a former Liverpool transfer target, returns to Turkey.

According to Anfield Watch, the Reds turned down Al-Hilal’s verbal offer of around £70 million for Darwin. The Merseyside club values their striker at over £85 million, as revealed exclusively earlier this week.

Liverpool is expected to deal for £75 million, and the club is confident of securing such a figure, with Michael Edwards taking over negotiations.

Darwin’s departure could hasten the entrance of the highly regarded Stefanos Tzimas.
