Liverpool have been told one left-back is ‘100%’ set to join the Reds and seal a dream transfer to the club.
One of Richard Hughes’ top aims this summer will be to sign a left-back. Andy Robertson’s form this season has been uneven, and Liverpool are looking for prospective alternatives.
Anfield Watch exclusively revealed that the Reds have begun talks with Milos Kerkez and are considering a move for Lewis Hall.
However, the club is considering other options, including a defender who Anfield Watch has been told is fully prepared to join the club and complete what could be a dream deal for him.
Arne Slot is also said to have high regard for this individual.
Why is David Hancko ‘100%’ ready to join Liverpool?
A report by Voetbal International has recently indicated that Slot would like David Hancko to join Liverpool. The Slovakian international can play as both a left back and a centre back.
He led his club to the Champions League round of 16 and, of course, played for Slot at Feyenoord for two seasons.
Adrian Gula, Hancko’s former coach at MSK Zilina, told Anfield Watch this summer that his former student was ready to take the next step.
“Yes, I’m sure,” Gula told Anfield Watch exclusively.
“You can never say 100%, but I am at least 99% certain. He’s ready physically, intellectually, tactically. The Liverpool coach [Arne Slot] knows him. It might be a huge advantage because he can immediately assist the team. Of course, it is the top league, the best league in the world, but I believe, hope, and want he is prepared.”
Gula also confirmed that Hancko grew up watching Liverpool and views Martin Skrtel as an idol, having grown up in the same region of Slovakia.
“certainly, certainly, because of Martin Skrtel was there. They hail from the same village as myself. It’s only 10 kilometers surrounding us, and we might have two Liverpool players. It’s amazing. It’s unbelievable. It is not a city, but rather two settlements in the same territory. Skrtel was there [Liverpool] fantastic player and Hancko I hope and I wish all the best for him.”
Gula also revealed Hancko was initially a left-winger when he arrived at Zilina, but he coached him to hone his defensive side of the game, allowing him to flourish as a full-back.
This provides Hancko a distinct advantage when it comes to his attacking abilities as a defender, but Gula’s greatest strength is his character and mindset.
“His best trait is his character,” Gula stated. “For me right now, based on what I saw and discussed with him, Arne Slot can do something spectacular, tactical, or offensive. He is wonderful. He can read the game and forecast the circumstance, thus he is also an exceptional tactician.”
That sounds like an excellent player for Slot’s squad, and given the Slovakian international’s relationship with Liverpool’s head coach, this is one to keep an eye on.
