Chelsea’s interest in Nottingham Forest star Murillo will not fade despite their January bid being rejected, according to Football Insider.
Forest rejected a club-record offer for the 22-year-old defender, who later signed a new contract at the City Ground until 2029.
Nonetheless, Murillo remains a priority target for Chelsea, who are looking for new defenders and want to bring the world’s greatest young talent to Stamford Bridge.
Despite their unlimited transfer budget, sources suggest it will be a “tough deal to do” for the Blues.
Chelsea’s interest in Murillo ‘won’t go away
The Brazilian is now on a long-term contract and could be persuaded to stay with Forest if they win Champions League qualification this season.
Nottingham Forest fans have reacted positively to the news that the Midlands club has rejected a January deal for Murillo.
This season, he has appeared in 23 games in all competitions, starting all of them.
The 22-year-old has formed a deadly relationship with Nikola Milenkovic, and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side is currently third in the Premier League.
Marc Guehi might be a Murillo alternative for Chelsea.
Last Friday (4 February), Football Insider reported that Liverpool and Arsenal are among the teams expected to join Chelsea in the fight for Crystal Palace striker Marc Guehi this summer.
Tottenham made a late-window £70 million bid for the Palace captain during the January transfer season.
Guehi left Chelsea for Palace in 2021 and might be re-signed by the Stamford Bridge club as a replacement for Murillo.
