Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news, as Reds recruitment chief looks ahead to the summer window.
Nottingham Forest’s new recruitment manager, Pedro Ferreira, has laid out the club’s transfer strategy and the obstacles it will face this summer.
After leaving Benfica, the Portuguese just joined City Ground as head of recruitment. He has been pushed into the deep end when the summer transfer market opens next Friday.
The Reds want to improve to ensure they can compete in the Premier League next season. However, they must adhere to the financial guidelines, as they were fined four points last term for violating them.
Ferreira told Portuguese media source Maisfutebol in a translated interview: “There must be excessive investments, especially because the Premier League has different rules and Nottingham has already been punished with a loss of points and does not want that to happen again.
“Excessive investments must be accompanied by high revenues. The project primarily focuses on improving the squad so that it can better respond to the Premier League’s everyday challenges, as well as finding emerging talents so that they may grow and develop both within and externally.
Ferreira worked for Benfica for 17 years in a variety of roles. His most recent position was head of scouting, but he previously worked in the club’s academy. However, it appears that he has no plans to attack his previous squad in order to add to Forest’s roster.
He explained: “It appears difficult for Nottingham to sign players from Benfica at the moment.” They are too costly players for the club’s budget, but you never know. “The market is highly volatile.”
