‘Excellent progress’: Tottenham expert drops Enic takeover verdict amid £100 million+ development

Tottenham News is pleased to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as an exclusive columnist. Every week, he’ll share his expert opinion on the most pressing issues at Spurs.

John Wenham feels that fresh financial numbers released by Deloitte “will only strengthen ENIC’s position and price” in any potential Tottenham purchase.

According to the current edition of the Deloitte Football Money League, Tottenham’s revenue for the 2022/23 season increased by £106.4 million over the previous season.

Spurs went up one rank to eighth in the money league in 2022, overtaking London rivals Chelsea, and now lead the way as the capital’s highest revenue-generating team, with Arsenal in tenth and West Ham in eighteenth.

Wenham believes that this development has strengthened ENIC’s grip on the club.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I know Spurs fans are always wondering if a takeover is on the horizon, but these recent data will further enhance ENIC’s position and price in the future.

“They’ll be looking for much more money as a result of this since Spurs are now on par with the world’s biggest teams.

“We’d all like to be among those clubs in terms of trophies won, but when you look at the overall picture, we’re making great progress.

“Look at the stadium and how much people like visiting there. Unlike many other new stadiums, where fans passionately want to return to their old ground, I don’t believe there are many Tottenham fans who want to go back to the old White Hart Lane.

“So there is lots to be positive about off the pitch, and on the pitch with Ange Postecoglou at the helm, hopefully, things will only get stronger.”

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou may drop one forward for the trip to Everton following his 0 percent performance against Brentford.
